NGA was born from a critical observation: nature struggles to keep pace with the environmental challenges posed by modern livestock farming, particularly in areas with high animal concentrations like swine CAFOs. Our founder noticed a global pattern—shifts in nutrients, pathogens, microbial communities, and soil pH were overwhelming natural systems, especially near operations like Hastings Pork in Nebraska, where wastewater from 64,000 swine created significant ecological strain. Studies, including one from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, highlighted how untreated manure led to elevated contaminants—phosphorus, ammonia, bacterial pathogens, and antibiotics—in nearby wetlands, threatening both wildlife and soil health.
